Voter Attire At The Polls

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT VOTER ATTIRE CAN NOT BE LEGALLY MANDATED.

Wear your Obama shirts, pins, hats, socks, etc. There is a mass email circulating that states people would be turned away at the polls for wearing their Obama shirts. This is most likely the swift material of Republican strategists who don't want you to show your support for Obama at the polls. They are legitimately concerned about the Democratic turnout at the polls this year and naturally don't want us advertising our candidate, but the fact is they can not stop us from wearing Obama attire. POLL WORKERS may not wear candidate specific material. VOTERS should wear their Obama shirts & hats.

I've posted an email from the Duval County Supervisor of Elections who verifies the aforementioned and encourage you to call your Supervisor of Elections directly to verify the law in your town, city, or county. If you happen to speak with someone who tells you otherwise, DEMAND that they fax or email you a copy of current and specific election law and forward that to the Obama campaign.

McCain Asks To Postpone Friday Debate Due To Economic Crisis

I just checked my calendar...today isn't April 1st!! Is it? Is he "efffing" serious? This the LAMEST excuse I have ever heard. He's indirectly confessing that Obama is going to take him to school on Friday, but what's interesting is that McCain and his top advisers fought for the very deregulation that got Wall St. into this mess, and now he wants to 'suspend' his campaign and postpone a 90 minute debate so he can focus on the financial crisis? How is there a financial crisis Senator when you've described the fundamentals of our economy as being strong?? If you can't multi-task and work in a 90 minute debate, how do you expect to lead a country?? In the global arena, do you expect to be able to call a time out with the rest of the world? GIVE ME A BREAK! Mind boggling and truly pathetic!

Why Are So Many Hesitant To Push The Bailout Through??

I point your attention to Section 8 of the plan...
"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."
Scary, yet coming from Bush not surprising that the "mother of all bailouts," which will transfer $700 billion taxpayer dollars to purchase the distressed assets of several failed financial institutions, will be conducted in a manner unchallengeable by courts and ungovernable by the People's duly sworn representatives. Wall St. Lotto

Where do I get my tickets? I wanna play! Does this mean that my mortgage payment will be cut in half? Why do the CEO's who drove these corporations into the dirt get to walk away with multi-million dollar separation agreements? Its vile and frankly embarrassing to our country.

M-T-Veee, You Have Some 'Splaining To Do!

MTV is coming under fire lately for "allegedly" destroying parts of the rain forest in Panama. Resident's are claiming that the network cleared a large portion of the rain forest so it could film its reality dinosaur, "Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Island". Check out photos and further details regarding the mess MTV left behind. Way to go MTV! And let me guess, Derrick, Coral, and Evelyn will be in this challenge too? Who knew you could actually make a living as a reality tv "personality"?

Price-Gouging?? If You See It, Report It!!

As I ran errands today here in Jacksonville, I couldn't help but notice how much the price of gas varied within such a relatively small radius. Price-gouging is illegal and may still be a common practice among many gas station owners. Why? Because they can get away with it. Or can they? Some gas stations over the weekend were selling regular unleaded for as much as $4.87 per gallon.

Getting back to my errands, I took notice of the prices of gas as I traveled along my route and committed to 1. Taking a picture of every gas station sign displaying the price and 2. Stopping at what I thought would be the lowest price. We'll start with the highest price and work our way towards the place we SHOULD be giving our business to assuming REGULAR unleaded is what we're seeking.

THE WORST = $3.99 PER GALLON and WE HAVE A 4 WAY TIE

The BP, Chevron, & Exxon are located at the corner of Southside & Hogan while the Citgo is located on Beach Blvd. (westbound) just before 9A.

ALMOST AS BAD at $3.98 PER GALLON is GATE (owned by the Mayor's family)

These two stations are located at Belfort & Southpoint Dr. East and Southside at Touchton.

CHEVRON at the corner of BELFORT & BRIDGES = $3.96 PER GALLON

GETTING A LITTLE CHEAPER & ANOTHER 4 WAY TIE AT $3.89 PER GALLON

  1. Hess @ Beach & Forest
  2. Hess @ Beach & Hodges
  3. Shell @ Beach & St. John's Bluff
  4. BP @ Beach & Meadowbrook (NOTE CHEVRON IN BACKGROUND @ $3.87 per gallon
TWO WAY TIE SELLING REGULAR UNLEADED @ $3.87 per gallon
  1. Chevron @ Beach & Meadowbrook (across the street from BP above)
  2. Kangaroo @ Beach & Hodges (across the street from Hess #2 above)
THE BEST PLACE TO GET GAS ON THE SOUTHSIDE AT $3.85 PER GALLON

Sam's Club located on Beach Blvd. & Anniston (adjacent to the post office)

Under Florida law, price gouging can result in a $1,000 fine per incident and up to $25,000 per day. If you suspect price gouging in Florida, you can call (866)-966-7226. You can also visit the Depart of Energy website and report price gouging in any state. Simply click this link and provide gas station info such as City, State, Gas Station Name, Gas Station City, State, Zip & Prices being charged.

Shoot me an email if you would like to submit additional information for others to see regarding gas prices and possible gouging.

Help Pass Senate Bill 1738 - The Protect Our Children Act

I know that we are all extremely busy with our lives and that you probably THINK that you don't even have a minute to read this. If you've taken the time to bring a child into this world, if you've ever taken the time to spend with a niece or nephew, if you've ever taken the time to simply purchase a gift for a child, if you've ever held a child, THEN you MUST take 5 minutes and ACT NOW. I've made it very simple. PLEASE help pass Senate Bill 1738 - The Protect Our Children Act. You can call, write, or email your Senator to tell them to pass Senate Bill 1738 before he/she takes a recess at the end of this month. Below is a sample letter (courtesy of Oprah.com) that you can paste into the email form located on your Senator's website. I've also listed Senator's Names, Number, and E-Mail address for ALABAMA, ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, NEW JERSEY, and NORTH CAROLINA. To locate your Senator's information, simply look it up at www.senate.gov

Help pass Senate Bill 1738 - The Protect Our Children Act - (a bipartisan bill sponsored by Republicans and Democrats)

Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have.

The PROTECT Our Children Act will:
  • Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
  • Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
  • Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.
Call Your Senators
If you choose to contact your senators by phone, be sure to tell them, "Vote yes on Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act."

Write to Your Senators
If you choose to write a letter, fax, telegram or e-mail, you may use the following sample letter—and modify it how you see fit.

Dear Senator:

I know that you believe, like I do, that we must do everything possible to protect children from sexual predators. That is why I am asking for your help.

Last year alone, U.S. law enforcement identified over 300,000 criminals who were trafficking in movies and pictures of young children being raped and tortured. Experts say that one in every three of these criminals has local child victims. Child pornography trafficking over the Internet has given us a trail of evidence that leads straight to their doorsteps, but the vast majority of these children will never be rescued because investigators are overwhelmed, outnumbered and underfunded.

As your constituent, I urge you to do everything in your power to pass the PROTECT Our Children Act (S. 1738, Biden-Hatch). This bipartisan legislation passed the House 415-2, but it is now the victim of petty partisan politics.

Now that we know where these children are and how to protect them, there is no excuse for the Senate to fail to take action this session.

Disgusting Fear Mongering, Manipulation, and Abuse of 9/11

GRAPHIC - MAY (WILL) BE DISTURBING TO WATCH

Disturbing video tribute at RNC. The actual events recounted in the footage of course are very upsetting, what’s worse is the intended manipulation of it by the McCain campaign.

SOME republicans have become so desperate and sickened by their desire to retain control of the White House that they continue to believe that fear mongering and the replaying of tragic, graphic, and sacred video of 9/11 is the answer to America's problems both domestic and foreign. This is yet another horrific example of what the GOP stands for TODAY. Today's GOP isn't the party of Lincoln, Roosevelt, or even Reagan.
