MAX BET!!

You know those pretty little numbers that you see in the Vegas casinos...no...no...no...not the ladies walking around yelling "Sea-GA-Rettes"...I mean those colorful and constantly scrolling numbers on the top of the slot machines that get higher and higher in value...yeah the progressive jackpot...that's it. Well in case you weren't aware, you can't win that progressive jackpot unless you bet the maximum credits prior to throwing the handle down. A dear friend who used to go by the name of “Believe” has recently perfected a short cut. Going forward, she will now be known as "MAX BET!" Hitting the "MAX BET" button will: A) play all available credits for that spin B) spin the wheels for you C) if hit properly actually give you a workout D) if hit incorrectly actually wear down your rotator cuff and E) just might win you a lot of money.

Friday Comics

Classic micromanaging courtesy of The Ladders. Delivered to my inbox on a very liberating day in November of 2007.

Ummmm Larry...

.....given your recent men's room foot tapping history, I'd take a "wide stance" and refrain from using the words "jerk" and "nozzle" in the same sentence if I were you.

In The Ghetto

I'm glad I caught today's rerun of Oprah....I know, I know! Why I didn't watch when it first aired was a mistake Ms. Winfrey and I can assure you it won't happen again. In the second segment, Lisa Marie Presley and her beloved father Elvis sang an awesome duet, "In the ghetto". She made the video to raise money for Presley-Place New Orleans, a transitional housing facility for homeless families. How our country could allow the residents of New Orleans suffer after Hurricane Katrina is an unfathomable disgrace. Lisa Marie's charity, The Presley Charitable Foundation, is a non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to improving people's lives with real situations. While the song and video aren't available at the US iTunes store, you can still donate at Lisa Marie's homepage.

Don't Feed The Alligators!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but chances are if you're reading this blog, then you can read signs too. I'm not an alligator specialist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Alligators are naturally very skittish animals and are normally afraid of people. They steer clear from humans UNTIL one decides to feed them. Once a human feeds an alligator, then that particular alligator automatically equates humans with food, and in the process, any natural fear of humans it may have had prior to the feeding becomes a faded memory. This gator currently resides in one of the lakes at the University of North Florida. Last month, I was walking along the nature trail and as I stepped onto a wooden footbridge, this 7 footer began swimming towards me obviously hoping to get a snack. Today, I observed him floating in the water underneath the bridge as people fished for tiny brim. This guy has gotten so lazy (trained), that he'd rather wait for the fish being thrown back into the water by people fishing above, even though hundreds of brim may be swimming right in front of his mouth. Gators have plenty of teeth and are perfectly capable of capturing their own food, let them do their own hunting.

Sweet Home Alabama

Why we don't visit Alabama more often is beyond me!?! My Aunt Ruth, Uncle Aidan, and cousin Bonnie live outside of Mobile and they are a blast! Just take a look at these fresh veggies grown right outside their back door. Thank you again for your gracious hospitality. We loved visiting with you and definitely hope to see you again real soon! Hugs and Kisses to Abby and Snicker!
