A lot of negativity here and I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea what kind of person Lenny is today. However, I can tell you that in 1987 during spring training for the NY Mets, he did rent a house two doors down from the one I grew up in. As a kid and a little leaguer, it was so exciting to know that a Major League star was just down the street. So I knocked on his door one evening and when he opened the door I asked if he could sign a baseball for me. He asked me what my name was and if I knew how to work a VCR. I said: "Of course I do" and so he invited me in and I got his VCR working. From that moment on, we were pals. During the course of the spring training season, he was very gracious and made it a point to play catch with those of us who also played baseball and invited us to all of his games. He and his family were very kind and down to earth. I wish he and his family well.
